Aug 12th ’03: Vana Trio at Nublu (62 Avenue C, between 4th & 5th St.) in New York City. There will be only 1 set at 10:30pm. It will be a fun hang including Alvester Garnett (drums), Sean Conly (bass), and guests such as Mark Lambert (guitar) and Rogerio Boccato (percussion).

Sep. 14th ’03: Sex & The City (HBO) will premier their long advertised special episode with Mikhail Baryshnikov for which they hired Vana to write a solo piano composition. His piece was written for the intimate late night dinner scene Sarah Jessica Parker has with Mr. Baryshnikov.

Sep. 16th ’03: Vana Trio plus Brazilian Percussion performing live on Sirius Satellite Radio (5pm). Studio at Rockefeller Center, New York City.

Sep. 17th ’03: Vana Trio plus Brazilian Percussion concert at Sweet Rhythm (former Sweet Basil, 88 7th Av. South, just above Bleecker) in New York City. Oct. 7th – 10th ’03: One week of Master classes in New Jersey with vocalist Melissa Walker (incl. Chris Berger, bs, Ali Jackson, dr, Ron Blake, sax). The group will go to 2 schools per day, teaching kids about the origins of Jazz.

Oct. 23rd – 26th ’03: In Sweden performing with vocalist Carmen Lundy.

Oct. 27th ’03: The Vana Trio will be in the studio for a recording of 2 original Christmas songs written by Kathryn Williams and Vana. The featured vocalist will be Melissa Walker.

Nov. 3rd ’03: At Lincoln Center (Alice Tully Hall) in New York City, with the Regina Carter Quintet plus symphony orchestra. Regina will be allowed to perform again on Paganini’s world famous Guarneri violin, an Italian national treasure called the “cannon” for its natural sound volume. This time the violin will be brought to New York from Italy under tight security. She is the first non-classical musician to have had the honor to perform and record on that precious violin, a historic achievement that Vana and his friend Andrea Liberovici put together across the Atlantic.

Dec. 11th thru 19th ’03: Vana Trio plus Brazilian Percussions tour in Brazil. With Vinicius Barros (perc), Rogerio Boccato (drums) and Paulo Paulelli (bass). On the 17th & 18th we’ll be performing at SESC Consolação in Sao Paulo. Shows at 8pm.
